Peter Doobinin is the author of the the dharma books, Skillful Pleasure and The Skill of Living, and the novels, Daylight Saving Time and Suburban Boy. Daylight Saving Time is the second book in his projected Long Island trilogy. Peter’s writing has appeared in the anthology Commit to Sit; Tricycle; Buddhismus Aktuell; The New York Times, and other publications. Peter spent his formative years in the baby boom suburbs of Long Island. After working in the publishing industry for Simon & Schuster for many years, he left to pursue less worldly interests. Today, he lives in New York City where he writes and teaches meditation. Peter is the guiding teacher of New York Dharma. Peter was a co-founder of New York Insight Meditation Center, and in 2002 founded Downtown Meditation Community. In 2018, he founded Berlin Dharma. He also offers online training to advanced meditation students through The Dharma Student Project. He's been teaching meditation, as his full-time vocation, for more than two decades. Through the years he’s taught meditation at many venues, including the New York City public schools. He's taught at NYU, Columbia University, CUNY, Hunter College, and Pratt Institute. |
